Seattle AWIS and ACS Puget Sound Section are Co-Presenting:
“The Business of Climate Change: Health, Environment, Energy and Economy”
Volunteer for an AWIS Committee!
You can serve for an entire year or even just a single event or task! We especially invite you to join the Programming
Committee– this is one of the most active and exciting parts of our organization. All of our committees actively recruit
throughout the year to help generate new ideas and engage our members: this helps us create programming, special events,
and chapter tools that are tailored to our current, up-to-the-minute interests and recruit new members. We hope to see all of
our members take the opportunity to volunteer with a committee and more deeply engage our chapter. We can’t wait to work
with you! To find out more about volunteering, contact any of our committees below:

Keep an eye out for our quarterly professional development programs, as well as a few social events this spring!

The Seattle AWIS scholarship program was launched in 1990 to provide financial assistance to undergraduate
women who are majoring in science, math or engineering fields at four-year colleges and universities in
Washington State. More than $175,000 in scholarships have been awarded since then. Scholarship recipients
are selected based on academic excellence, financial need, motivation to pursue a science-based career, and a
record of giving back to their communities. Many scholarship recipients have found that receiving an AWIS
scholarship is validating and gives them increased self-confidence to go for their dreams and goals and that this
support from a group of women whom they admire is as important as the financial support.
