In a one-time special virtual event, Seattle AWIS is proud to present COVID-19 and the STEM Education Gap: How Diverse Women Lead the Charge against Learning Loss, celebrating the powerhouse Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and female figures who have been tirelessly working to bridge the gap of STEM subjects amongst the general public, education, and experts in the field. COVID-19-related measures have greatly impacted education access with many schools moving to online platforms, and many life sciences programs and courses losing crucial hands-on lab components vital to their curriculum. This learning loss disproportionately affects students in low-income and underrepresented communities, as well areas without regular internet access or households that can accommodate a dedicated learning environment. We warmly welcome our honored guests to discuss their activism in closing the STEM Education gap, particularly in the COVID-19 era, and their insight on the next steps on how we can make learning and STEM subjects accessible to all groups and backgrounds.
This meeting will be held via Zoom.
You will receive the Zoom information at 9am on Aug 13th.
